Hello!!!

Thank you for purchasing Proud of ME ABC! My name is Lakisha Leeks, the author of PROUD OF ME ABC. I am a wife, a childcare business owner, veteran, and mother of two children. My son EJ and Skye are the main characters of the story.

As a parent, we work diligently to position our children for success, and it starts with reading. That’s why I created Proud of ME ABC to be more than a book, but a beginning to lifelong learning. It’s an early education learning resource to prepare children for kindergarten and beyond.

Learn with Skye as she helps children gain confidence learning their ABC’s.

Come along on an amazing ABC adventure! Skye is proud of the new letters and words she’s learned, and your child will be too!

Explore a colorful world of letters A-Z through adorable illustrations. Each letter has an identifying picture and word!

Did you know 49% of children entering Kindergarten are not adequately prepared.

During a tour with a prominent private school, I learned Kindergarten students were required to read upon acceptance. Immediately after the tour I knew that I wanted to create something to help children learn to read early. At four years old my daughter could read and by two my son could identify his alphabets, phonetic sounds and over a dozen site words.
I use this book and companion cartoon in my childcare program.

Children and parents love it because they have witnessed the improvement with reading, phonics, and letter identification in their children.

Hi! We’re Skye and EJ

I would like to introduce you to:

THE 5 MINUTE DIFFERENCE

Below I will include simple instructions.

Reviewing this book only 5 five minutes daily with your child will make a difference in their learning and development. This book and cartoon will help your child learn to identify letters, phonetic sounds and identify pictures.

  1. Start with the first page- say and point to each letter.
  2. Encourage your child to repeat the letter after you. This will also allow you to hear their pronunciation of each letter.
  3. Identify the picture. For example, “A is for Apple”. Point to the apple. It is important to say each word on the page. Don’t skip the site words “is and of”. Have Fun with it!!
  4. Repeat: Pointing to each letter, using the site words (is, of) and the picture on each page.
  5. After 1 month, ask the child to show you a specific letter, and ask them to identify the picture. If your child answers incorrectly at first, it’s totally OK! Please be patient with them. They are learning for the first time. As you consistently review the book with your child- they will learn!
